Lemmenjoki National Park Tour
The Lemenjoki National Park is a remote retreat, the northernmost national park in Finland. The 22km stretch in the Lemmenjoki river valley from Njurkulahti to Kultasatama gave scene to one of the certums of the Finnish golden rush in the end of the 1800’s. The day paddling upstream to the Gold harbour (Kultasatama) give a taste of the journey of the first settlers. There we leave heavy stuff behind and depart on foot to see what today’s gold washers are doing. After returning to the canoes a splendid descend awaits to the departure point and we continue downstream on the river.
Local culture-history is tracked in the pristine wilderness when visiting Kaapin Jouni’s farm and some of the remained gold miners in the wilderness. Overnights we spend mostly in wilderness huts and shelters, but tent is in use as well. The tour is suitable for beginners with our guides. Please check on the “Events” page for scheduled tours.
